About Her: 

"Hello, I'm Crystal Byrd Uqdah, a professional photographer specializing in portrait and personal branding. Graduating from college in 2005, at the onset of a recession presented its own set of challenges, leading to limited career opportunities and a series of menial jobs for over the years. In 2016, one week after giving birth to my fourth child, I faced job loss, plunging me into depression amid economic hardship.

A turning point came when I stumbled upon a mentor's trailer on Facebook, sparking a renewed belief in building a sustainable photography business. I immersed myself in learning from scratch and faced the challenge of reframing my mindset to believe in my worthiness.

Six years later, I stand with a thriving multi six-figure business, a testament to the power of perseverance and self-belief. Excited to share my journey on the ""Pivot Perspectives: Inspiring Stories of Reinvention in Work and Business"" panel, I hope to inspire others to overcome challenges and achieve their dreams."

"I recently moved to GA and I have over 10 years of experience in Risk & Compliance across many different industries! I am originally from the Midwest where I graduated from law school and then moved to teach at the number 1 MBA school in the world (Wharton). Throughout my career I’ve consistently had to reinvent & pivot based on the industries and corporate environments I was subjected to. Learning to pivot is extremely important and I know a few strategies that have works for me that I would love to share."

About Her: "I was a television news reporter for about 10 years and knew I needed a career change, but news reporting was all I knew for so long. I pivoted and took the skills I learned from the media industry and leveraged my contacts to start a strategic communications company. Leaving news reporting was scary, but a year later I'm happy to have transitioned industires and started a business that allows me to have more control over my own time. I even leveraged my tv news reporting clips to gain acting gigs in Atlanta."
